Biographical Sketch

Montie Ephraim Claybourn was born on 14 September 1900 in Texico, Illinois. Although he would move throughout his life, he spent some time living at 400 Church Street in East Alton, Illinois. Montie's marriages and children are described below. At the time of his death, Montie had 11 grandchildren and 4 great-granchildren.

Montie married (1st) on the 1st of January in 1919 to Anna May Breeze of Dix, Illinois. They divorced but had one child:

1. Marjorie Nan Claybourn was born 19 October 1920 near Chicago, Illinois. In 1935 he married Emmett L. Ellis of Mt. Vernon. They owned and operated a cafe in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. They had three children:
   1. Billie Joyce Ellis was born 22 July 1936 and marriedon 2 February 1956 to Gerald Paul Clark of Mt. Vernon. They lived in Cairo, Illinois. Gerald works for Bell Telephone Company. They had a daughter, Cynthia Jo Clark, born on 17 January 1957
   2. Emmet L. Ellis, Jr. was born 13 February 1937 in Mr. Vernon, Illinois. He married on 21 June 1959 to Patricia Basham of Mt. Vernon. Emmett attended Southern Illinois University majoring in Physical Education and Health with an interest in becoming a coach.
   3. James Daniel Ellis was born 17 December 1941 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He attended Mt. Vernon High School.

2. Harlie E. Claybourn was born 8 July 1927, but died just two months later on 8 September 1927. He is buried next to his father in Jordan Chapel Cemetery.

3. Montie Edward Claybourn was born on 3 September 1928 and married on 15 January 1950 to Elizabeth Francis Foster of Denver, Colorado. When Montie entered the Army the spelling of his name changed to "Monty" in 1946. He died on 22 August 1996 and is buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver Co., Colorado. They had two children:
   1. Monty Edward Claybourn was born on 1 May 1951, possibly in Alaska. He married (1st) Shirley Bober. They divorced and Monty married (2nd) Bernadette Gonzales. They had four children:
      1. Shanna Louise Claybourn, born 3 August 1975 (she was adopted).
      2. Tiffany Dawn Claybourn, born 6 January 1978.
      3. Monty E. Claybourn, born 15 June 1981
      4. a baby was due in June of 1985
   2. Lucille Ann Claybourn was born on 5 April 1966. She attended Columbine Cosmotology School in Denver.

4. Norma Jean Claybourn was born 22 October 1930 (or 31). Following her mother's death when she was six or seven years old, Norma was raised in the Odd Fellows & Rebecca's home in Lincoln, Illinois. She married on 25 January 1950 to Edward Chasco of Lincoln, Illinois. Eventually they lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where Chasco was a potash miner. They had two children:
   1. Susan Carol Chasco was born 16 January 1951 in Lincoln, Ill.
   2. Michael Stephan Chasco was born 29 August 1955 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

5. Darlene Joyce Claybourn was born 9 July 1932 (or 33). Following her mother's death when she was four or five years old, Darlene was raised in the Odd Fellows & Rebecca's home in Lincoln, Illinois. She married on 15 October 1950 to Paul Thompson of Lincoln, Illinois. He was in the service three years and was a part owner of a plumbing company in Lincoln. They had one child, David Paul Thompson, born 23 December 1958.

6. Franklin Claybourn was born 30 January 1936. He operated a plumbing business and married in 1958 to a woman named Nadene. They had one child, Connie Frances Claybourn, born 1959.

7. Kathryn Claybourn was born 24 March 1942 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, as were the remaining children of Montie.
