He entered the service of the United States Army on 15 Aug 1941 at Fort Oglethorpe, GA. Achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, he served with the 3748th Quartermaster Truck Company. He was in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater from 06 Nov 1943 to 13 Jan 1945, and was discharged on 03 Feb 1945 at LaGarde General Hospital at New Orleans, LA. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one bronze star, the American Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal [World War II Veterans of DeKalb County, Tennessee, Compiled by DeKalb County Genealogical Society and Justin Potter Library, Printed by Bradley Printing, Co., Smithville, TN 2005, Page 46.]. Clay Clinton Braswell passed away Saturday morning, 9 December 2000, at the Alvin C. York V. A. Hospital in Murfreesboro following an extended illness. He entered service of the Army of the United States on 02 July 1943 at Fort Oglethorpe, GA. A Private, he served Battery A, 257th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion. He was discharged on 19 Aug 1944 at Camp Hullen, TX [World War II Veterans of DeKalb County, Tennessee, Compiled by DeKalb County Genealogical Society and Justin Potter Library, Printed by Bradley Printing, Co., Smithville, TN 2005, Page 47.]. Calvin Braswell died on 20 Nov 1974 at Veteran's Hospital, Nashville, Davidson Co., TN. He was buried in DeKalb Memorial Gardens, Smithville, TN. Calvin and Cornelia had the following children:

He was discharged on 17 Feb 1947 in San Antonio, TX, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal [World War II Veterans of DeKalb County, Tennessee, Compiled by DeKalb County Genealogical Society and Justin Potter Library, Printed by Bradley Printing, Co., Smithville, TN 2005, Page 46.]. Everett Franklin Braswell was a nurseryman and of the United Pentecostal Church faith. The following is found in his obituary of 11 July 1974: "Franklin Braswell was shot three weeks ago in north Nashville and was confined at Baptist Hospital until his death Saturday. Morris Rucker, Jr., 16, is currently held in Davidson County Jail as a suspect in the incident." [Obituary of Franklin Braswell, Smithville Review Newspaper, 11 July 1974] Franklin passed away on 06 July 1974 and was buried at DeKalb Memorial Gardens, Smithville, TN. Franklin and Bille Lois Anderson had three children:
