Biographical Sketch

Arthur Ellis Claybourn was born 4 February 1885 in Fayette County, Illinois. He married Laura Howard (born 5 February 1880 in Trinity, Texas). They lived in Mt. Vernon, Illinois for a while, and his cousin Orley Claybourn helped him get a job with the L&N Railroad there. Arthur belonged to the Masonic Lodge. Later he moved to Palestine, Texas, and worked as a conductor for the Missouri Pacific Railrod until an illness claimed his life on 3 January 1941. His widow Laura lived at Palestine, 610 N. Fowler Street. and died on 19 August 1974.

1. Lenora Laura Claybourn was born on 29 June 1902 in Trinity, Texas. She married Ira C. McInnis of Palestine, Texas. Ira worked for an airline and the two lived in New York City. Lenora died on 22 March 1985 and is buried in Palestine, Texas. She and Ira had one child:

   1. Connie Lee McInnis was born 21 October 1925. She lived for a while at 6 Larchmont Road, North Redding, Mass. (near Boston). She married Norman McLeod and they had three children:
      1. Jay "Bud" McInnis, born 1945
      2. Connie Lee, born 1949 or 1950
      3. Norman McInnis, Jr., born 1955

2. Howard A. Claybourn was born on 28 November 1903 in Trinity, Texas. He lived in New York City for a while. Howard married (1st) Jewell Boyd of Palestine, Texas and then married (2nd) Evelyn Swanson Romo, on September 1958. Howard and Evelyn had two children:

   1. Patsy Claybourn was born 7 September 1925 and lived at 209 Ronald Circle in El Campo, Texas. She married Joseph Richardson and they had two children:
      1. Sherilyn Jo Richardson
      2. Joseph Richardson

   2. Betty Claybourn was born 14 July 1929, but was killed in an auto accident about 1955 or 1956.

3. Rollie E. Claybourn was born on 19 September 1905 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was named for Rollie Crowder. Rollie Claybourn attended Texas A&M and later become a wholesale drug salesman, eventually settling in Whittier, California. He married (1st) Adele La Blanc and they had one child:

   1. Mary Louise Claybourn was born 29 April 1930. She married a doctor and lived in California.

   Rollie married (2nd) Mrs. Evelyn White, who had four children by a previous marriage. They had one child together:

4. Clifton Havard Claybourn was born on 31 May 1907 in Palestine, Texas. He was an accountant, and both he and Howard worked for a dry cleaning chain. He died in 1952 or 1953. He married Inita Watson, who would go on to marry again following Clifton's death. They had one child:

   1. Clifton Havard Claybourn ("Havard") was born on 12 September 1929. He married Velma Jane Grisham. They owned a laundry and dry cleaning business at 1241 W. San Antonio, San Marcus, Texas. Together they had two children:
      1. Clifton Dean Claybourn was born on 15 June 1954 and was afflicted with downs syndrome. He lived at home with his parents and worked in a sheltered workshop.
      2. Kendal Lane Claybourn was born on 17 October 1957 and graduated from Southwest Texas University. She worked in the finance department of the City of San Marcos, Texas.

5. Raymond C. Claybourn was born on 21 April 1909 in Palestine, Texas. He lived in Houston and was in the dry cleaning business in El Campo, Texas. He married Lillian Handley of Houston. Together they had one child, Ann Elizabeth Claybourn. Ann was born on 26 March 1934 and lived in El Campo. She married Tommy U. Hollis; they had no children.

6. Arthur Ellis Claybourn, Jr. was born 3 August 1912 in Palestine, Texas. He worked as the sales manager for Dallas Warehouse & Distributing Co. and lived at 4433 Hanover, Dallas. He married Laura Walton of Palestine and the two had one child:

   1. Stephen Ellis Claybourn, born in 1942.

7. Evelyn G. Claybourn was born 14 July 1913 in Palestine, Texas. She married Marshall Bunn who worked for American Airlines. The two lived at 4028 Clover Lane in Dallas; they had no children.

8. George Edwin Claybourn was born 9 February 1918, in Palestine, Texas. He attended Texas A&M for two years. George worked as superintendent of maintenance for American Airlines, Amon Carter Field. He began at American Airlines at 1939 and lived at 3828 Ruth Road in Fort Worth. He married Esther Jones and they had three children:

   1. Laura Linda Claybourn was born 28 October 1940 and studied at North Texas State College.

   2. George Edwin Claybourn, Jr. was born 4 March 1945. He was married twice and had at least one daughter:
      1. Angela Claybourn was born 23 Sept. 1968 and lived with her mother for a time in Ft. Worth, Texas.

   3. Bradford Ellis Claybourn was born on 29 June 1950 and married Barbara Dosher on 4 October 1984 in Virginia City, Nevada.
